Two flights fail to land in Rajahmundry airport
Vijayawada, Aug 3 (UNI) Two Air Deccan flights today failed to land at Madhurupudi airport in Rajahmundry due to heavy rains and poor visibility.
Air Deccan sources told UNI here that the Chennai-Vijayawada- Rajahmundry flight which arrived here at 1115 hours was to take off at 1130 hours to Rajahmundry. However, due to poor visibility upto two kms at the airport, the flight was cancelled and returned to Chennai at 1300 hours.
The money was refunded to passengers, who booked upto Rajahmundry.
Similarly, the Hyderabad-Rajahmundry-Vijayawada aircraft, which left Hyderabad for Rajahmundry, could not land at the airport, due to the same reason. After making sorties in the sky for some time, the flight was diverted and arrived here at 1245 hours.
The passengers, who had to land at Rajahmundry, alighted here and proceeded through road and rail transport, after getting the refund amount, the sources added.
The flight left from here for Hyderabad at 1300 hours.
