Toilets cleaned with cold drink, ban over cola makers sought
Varanasi, Aug 3 (UNI) A day after the Center for Science and Environment (CSE) claimed that soft drinks contained cocktail of pesticides, an ngo here today cleaned toilets with soft drinks and demanded a total ban on cola makers.
Led by Anup Jaiswal under the banner of Vande Mataram Sanghursh Samiti (VMSS), the youth carried out a protest march against cola companies.
Later, they cleaned public toilets near the Rajendra Prasad Ghat with soft drinks.
''We demand a total ban on the sale of soft drinks in India. Cold drinks made by Cola companies are meant for cleaning toilets and not for human consumption,'' Mr Jaiswal added.
Meanwhile, in another protest over the issue large number of women staged demonstration at the district headquarter under the banner of Lok Samiti.
The agitating women also handed over a memorandum addressed to President A P J Abdul Kalam, to District Magistrate Rajiv Agrawal demanding immediate ban on the operations of cola companies.
