Suspected terrorists to be produced on Tuesday for remand
Mumbai, Aug 3 (UNI) Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) of the Mumbai Police today produced a suspected terrorist arrested from Aurangabad yesterday before the MCOCA court, which remanded him to police custody till August 14.
ATS arrested Firoz Deshmukh yesterday from Aurangabad, he was booked under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) for his alleged involvement in the May 9 seizure of arms and ammunition near Aurangabad.
The ATS, in their joint operation with the Aurangabad police on May 9 arrested three terrorists including an activist of the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) near the Ghrushneshwar Temple at Verul village and seized arms and ammunition from them after a hot chase of about 80 kms.
On the basis of the information provided by the arrested persons, the ATS arrested 13 more people in different operations during June and July and seized arms and ammunitions.
ATS recovered 16 AK-47 rifles, 3200 live cartridges of AK-47, 62 magazines, 43 kg of explosive substances and 50 hand-grenades from the arrested persons.
With the arrest of Firoz, the total arrests in the case has gone up to 17.
