Sudden burst of heavy rains causes waterlogging, traffic jams

New Delhi, Aug 3 (UNI) Close on the heels of a short burst of heavy showers in Delhi on Tuesday evening, the capital was lashed by another burst of heavy rainfall today.

The sudden burst of heavy showers, which began at around noon, led to waterlogging in some areas of North Delhi, and resulted in traffic jams at some intersections in the capital.

The rainfall, which followed a heavily overcast sky in Delhi since early this morning, brought down the mercury in the capital by some degrees.

Though the showers lasted for a brief while, they neverthless led to waterlogging in some areas like the Patel Chest of North Delhi. Further, huge traffic jams were witnessed on the ITI intersection as well as Connaught Place following the rainfall.

The rain began with a trickle in the morning which was soon followed by heavy showers.

The weathermen have forecast another spell of heavy rainfall accompanied by thundershowers during the next 24 hours.
