Steps taken to rescue toddlers, Meghalaya Home Minister
Shillong, Aug 3 (UNI) Meghalaya Home Minister Robert Garnett Lyngdoh today said the government had taken all steps to rescue the two kids, who were abducted yesterday morning.
''We are sparing no pains for ensuring the release the two kids unconditionally,'' Mr Lyngdoh said.
Two school going children - Sachita Goel and her cousin sister Harsha Goel - were abducted by their driver Rudal Shah alias Amar Behari.
The Home Minister also said police established that Shah had hatched the conspiracy with his associates to abduct the kids for ransom.
Meanwhile, the abductors did not make any telephonic contact with the victim's family.
Soon after being informed about the incident, police swung into action and raided several places to rescue the two hostages. Police had also arrested the driver, while four others were detained for interrogation.
The Asom police and the BSF were also alerted and requested to trace the abducted.
Although Shah claimed his innocence in the incident, but police believed that Shah was one of the prime accused of the incident.
Today, police detained two more suspects to glean information on the whereabouts of the abducted, said Additional Superintendent of Police H Kharkrang.
Mr Kharkrang said all the six were still being interrogated, adding police were also confident of tracing the victims at the earliest.
