Steps being taken for smooth running of Vanavil: Pondy CM
Pondicherry, Aug 3 (UNI) The government was taking steps to ensure the smooth functioning of the 'Vanavil'cooperative stores here, Chief Minister N Rangasamy told the Assembly today.
He was replying to a special mention brought by Mr R Viswanathan (CPI) during the Zero Hour on the plight of the store's employees who 'had not been paid salary for the last six months.' Mr Rangasamy said government could not pay salary as the stores were incurring losses.
But now, the government had remitted funds towards salary and steps were being taken for its smooth functioning, he added.
Mr S P Sivakumar (DMK), through another special mention, drew the attention of the government to the collection of huge amounts by private medical colleges.
He said transport expediture to the tune of Rs 30,000 was being collected from students who will have to stay in hostel.
Mr Sivakumar urged the administration to call the managements of the private medical colleges for a disucssion and ensure that only an additional Rs 60,000, apart from the government prescribed fees, was collected from students selected through the Centralised Admission Committee.
