SNIA India now self-governing regional affiliate
Bangalore, Aug 3: The Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) India today announced that it had become a self-governing regional affiliate after functioning through its South Asia country forum programme for the last two years.
Addressing a press conference after launching the Technical Centre Champions Programme here, SNIA India Chairman P K Gupta said SNIA boasted of a growing membership in the country of over 60 storage vendors, channel members, end users, institutions and individuals.
He said the increasing presence of global storage vendors, system integrators and storage professionals in India had made storage networking a key focus area in the region.
''The India market for storage is growing faster than most other markets and we see a formal relationship with the SNIA as the best way to promote storage networking education, advance the SNIA's Technical Working Groups and drive membership in the organisation.'' SNIA had initiated the development of SNIA Storage Lab in the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore.
SNIA Chairman Wayne M Adams, who was also present, said that ''with the continued globalisation of IT operations and high-tech development and customer care investments in India, SNIA will deliver increased value through formal affiliation of SNIA India for the organisation as a whole.''
