SIMI activists remanded in police custody till Aug 17
Mumbai, Aug 3: A local court today remanded two activists of the Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), who were arrested by the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) from Padga village in the neighbouring Thane district for their alleged role in 'unlawful' activities, in police custody till August 17.
The Arrested accused -- Saif Nachan and Meenadh Nachan -- were believed to be brothers' of POTA accused Saquib Nachan, who was arrested in his alleged involvement in Mulund Train blast on March 13, 2003.
They were produced before Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate A M Garde, who remanded them in police custody.
The duo were nabbed yesterday from Padga village for being active members of the banned outfit and spreading its activities in the village.
Police have seized several incriminating documents from them, including 'jehadi' literature, which was meant for distribution among the youths of their community.
