Sensex trades 156 pts up in intra-noon trade

Mumbai, Aug 3 (UNI) The BSE Sensex was up 156 points in the intra-noon trade, as the investors' sentiments gained after a strong performance by the bluechip companies in the first quarter of the financial.

Currently, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensitive Index (Sensex) is trading at 11,032.80 points.

Major indices on the BSE were up and trading in the green. Midcap was up by 1.31 per cent, Smallcap was up 1.62 per cent and Bankex was up by 1.89 per cent.

Major gainers on the index are- Ranbaxy, HDFC, HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel, Reliance Communications and Infosys, all up between 2.26 and 4.0.

The losers are- GAIL, Bharat Electricals, Tata Tea, Nicholas Piramal, Tata Chemicals and Asian Paints, all down between 0.46 and 1.79 per cent.
