Sensex opens 54 pts up, trades at 11,063
Mumbai, Aug 3: Bombay Stock Exchange sensitive index (Sensex) today opened 54 points up at 10,929.03 as compared to the previous close of 10,876.19 points due to heavy buying by the blue chip companies.
The Sensex is currently trading at 11,063 points, which is 187 points up from the previous close.
There is a mixed trend in the Asian benchmark indices.
Major sectoral indices on the BSE are trading in the green. Midcap is up by 1.56 per cent, smallcap up by 1.88 per cent, bankex up by 2.42 per cent and IT was up 1.82 per cent.
Major losers are GAIL, Bharat Electricals, Tata Tea and Mahindra and Mahindra, all down between 0.03 to 1.07 per cent.
The gainers are Ranbaxy, HDFC, HDFC Bank, Infosys and Reliance Communications, all up between 2.52 to 4.08 per cent.
