Reliance launches Mobile PCO in VRL bus

Hubli, Aug 3: In an attempt to achieve better connectivity and accessibility even while on the move, Reliance Communications, Karnataka circle, today launched 'Mobile Public Call Office' (PCO) in buses to enable passengers on long distance travel to make local, STD and ISD calls.

Launching the mobile PCO in a luxury bus belonging to Karnataka's premier bus service provider VRL, Reliance Karnataka Circle Chief Executive Officer Vinay Singh said the Mobile PCO worked on CDMA wireless technology.

''It is a boon to national and international passengers, who require constant connectivity. The company network is now available in more than 4,700 towns in the country,'' he said.

Mr Singh said Mobile PCO would also act as a vehicle tracking system for the travel operators and help to save enormous cost in infrastructure. The phones also had incoming facility.

VRL Managing Director Anand Sankeshwar, who also spoke on the occasion, said the PCOs would initially be available in buses plying between Hubli and Mumbai and would be extended to other routes depending on the response.
