Pune to have 5 news bulletins, Mumbai 18 on FM
Pune, Aug 3: The Pune Centre of the All India Radio(AIR) is slated to begin five additional news bulletins of two minutes duration each, giving highlights on major national, international and regional events, while Mumbai will air 18 additional bulletins on FM from August 4.
Station Director, Sharad Bhosale, told reporters yesterday that in view of the long gaps between the primary news bulletins, they felt an acute need to increase the news frequency and provide latest highlights by the hour.
Of the 45 news centres of AIR in the country, 19 will be airing the additional news bulletins. In Maharashtra, Mumbai and Pune will be airing the news bulletins. Mumbai will have around 18 additional bulletins on FM, the highest in the country while Indore will have two additional bulletins, he informed.
The timings for the bulletins will be 0800hrs, 1000hrs, 1100hrs, 1200hrs and 1800hrs within a radius of 70kms. The timing of the most popular bulletin highlighting regional news at 0705 on medium wave will continue as earlier, while the Pune news bulletins can also be accessed at www.newsonair.com, he added.
