Power situation remains grim, 340 MW loadshedding

New Delhi, Aug 3 (UNI) The power situation in Delhi remained grim for the second consecutive day today with 340 MW of loadshedding in various areas of the capital.

Out of the maximum peak time power demand of around 3500 MW, only 3160 MW could be met in Delhi, resulting in the discoms carrying out rotational loadshedding to meet the shortfall, official sources said.

Though the Rihand, Rajghat and the Pragati power plants, which had not been producing power to the full capacity yesterday, were back to normal power generation today, the Naptha Jhakri power plant is still not functioning due to high silt level, which resulted in the shortfall.

Yesterday too, the discoms were able to meet a power demand of only 3150 MW and had to carry out rotational load shedding of around 300 MW due to inadequate generation by the Rihand, Rajghat and the Pragati power plants.
