Pawar to chair two day meet of Mah NCP elected representatives

Mumbai, Aug 3 (UNI) With the objective to review the performance of his party's elected representatives and galvanise the state unit for ensuing local bodies elections, Union Agriculture MInister and NCP president Sharad Pawar will chair a two day meeting of his ministers, MPs, legislators and district unit officebearers from tommorrow.

Party General Secretary Gurunath Kulkarni told reporters that about 300 delegates were expected to attend the two day meeting. Mr Pawar will meet ministers, legislators and MPs separately on the first day tommorrow and later on saturday there will be a joint meeting of all ministers, MLAs state unit officebearers and district unit officebearers.

Party State president Arun Gujarathi said the appointments of officebearers in five districts, which were still pending would be done in few days.

Replying to questions, he informed that he had spoken to Deputy Chief MInister R R Patil about the delay in appointments to state government run corporations and boards and urged the government to fill in the vacancies at the earliest.

To another question, he said the appointment of Sharad Pawar's daughter Supriya Sule as one of the national council member from the state should be construed as her elevation to active national politics.

He also denied reports of former NCP minister Suresh Jain from Jalgaon joining the Congress party.

When asked to comment on the congress plan to go alone in the ensuing local bodies elections, Mr Gujarathi said his party's priority was to ensure that secular votes are not divided but if the congress wishes to go alone, NCP too will make preparations in that manner.
