Pathak Authority submits report to PM
New Delhi, Aug 3: The Justice R S Pathak Inquiry Authority, probing allegations about payment of kickbacks in India in the UN's oil-for-food programme in Iraq, submitted its report to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today.
''I submitted the report to the PM this evening,'' Justice Pathak, a former Chief Justice of India and former Judge of the International Court of Justice, told sources.
He refused to divulge further information about the report, saying it was with the Prime Minister and would be tabled in Parliament.
The single member Authority was set up through an official order on November 11, 2005.
Former External Affairs Minister Natwar Singh, named as a 'non-contractual beneficiary' alongwith the Congress party in the Paul Volcker report, his son and Rajasthan MLA Jagat and former Indian Envoy to Croatia Aniel Matherani, whose comments brought Jagat and his friends into the probe purview were among those quizzed by the Authority.
