Orders issued to deposit arms licenses in police custody

Hyderabad, Aug 3 (UNI) Hyderabad City Police Commissioner AK Mohanty today issued orders that all the holders of arms licenses residing in the limits of North Zone have to deposit their fire Arms with police in view of Secunderabad Cantonment Board Elections 2006 being held on August six, 2006.

Except those employed on guard duty in the premises of Nationalised Banks, Public Sector Undertakings and Security Personnel in the limits of North Zone, others shall deposit their fire arms in Bollaram, Trimalgherry, Bowenpally, Begumpet, Karkhana, Maredpally and Tukaramgate police stations.

Licenses holders can deposit their fire arms with any authorised arms dealer with immediate effect under intimation to the concerned police stations, The Police authorities were permitted to seize any licensed weapon of any other area, if found in the area of North Zone during the above period.

This order will remain in force till the election process is over. Failure to comply with these instructions will attract penal action against the erring persons in addition to confiscating the weapons and prosecuting them under the appropriate provisions of law.

Further, all other Arms license holders, who wish to enter the North Zone limits were advised not to carry weapons during the above period, according to a police release.
