No sandal oil units in Pondy: Minister
Pondicherry, Aug 3 (UNI) The government today denied any sandal oil making unit was functioning in the union territory.
Replying to a question, Industry Minister V Vaithilingam told the Legislative Assembly that the then government had given permission for three units in 1998. They were subsequently closed down.
When members raised queries on illegal functioning of sandal oil manufacturing units, the Minister said he would look into it.
To another question, Chief Minister N Rangasamy said the government would include those residing in Wakf Board lands under Kamaraj Housing Scheme subject to the board granting NOC.
He said those living in temples lands for more than ten years were included under the scheme and they would receive money for constructing houses.
