Lions Club to construct 250 homes for needy
Kochi, Aug 3 (UNI) The International Association of Lions Club is planning to construct 250 homes for the under-privileged in Kochi district of Kerala, District Governor of the club Dr Thomas Philip said here today.
Enumerating the development programmes for the year, Dr Philip said the club will be constructing 250 homes for the under-privileged in its 'shelter for the needy' programme .
In its continuing efforts to help the visually challenged people, he said the club will help affected people to regain their eye sight partially or fully through eye transplantation and treatment, he said.
The club, in asscociation with hospitals, will also conduct camps in various places to identify people with cataract, he said.
The club is also planning to conduct camps to make people aware of diabetes, Dr Philip added.
He said efforts will also be made to provide adequate facilities in hospitals and old-age homes in the district.
