Israeli army carves out Lebanon "security zone"-TV
JERUSALEM, Aug 3 (Reuters) Israel's army has now carved out a ''security zone'' of 20 villages in south Lebanon up to six km (four miles) from the border, Israel's Channel 10 television said today.
''They will remain until a multinational force arrives,'' the television said, quoting the army. It did not specify whether this meant the army had completed its planned advance against Hizbollah guerrillas.
An army spokesman said he could not confirm that Israeli forces had taken over a ''security zone'' but said: ''We have several positions of control in several villages.'' Reuters DKS RS2013
