Infosys awaiting WB govt proposal for software centre
Kolkata, Aug 03 (UNI) Infosys Technologies Ltd is awaiting the final proposal from the West Bengal Govt for land required for setting up its IT and IT-enabled projects in Kolkata, its chairman and chief mentor N R Narayana Murthy said today.
The company had sought 100 acres from the West Bengal government, which has shown some pieces of land to the company executives.
"We are waiting for the proposal from the state government," Narayana Murthy said.
Mr Murthy, however, refused to comment on the company's stand in regard to land prices in the state.
Asked whether the company is planning to set up a software centre in Guwahati, the chief mentor said, "There is no such proposal in the radar now." However, he said he is scheduled to meet Asom government officials shortly.
Infosys has already assured the state government to invest around Rs 250 crore for setting up IT and IT-enabled projects in the state which would create employment for around 5,000.
