Heavy rains kill 3 people in AP

New Delhi, Aug 3 (UNI) Three persons were killed in Andhra Pradesh as heavy rains lashed several states, including the national capital, throwing normal life out of gear.

Even as flash floods claimed life of two people in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh during the past two days, the state of Asom was advancing for an abnormal drought, indicative of a famine in coming days.

On one hand where widespread rains hit almost all mid and lower hills of Himachal Pradesh during last 24 hours, rainfall is not likely to bless Uttar Pradesh soon as the system has shifted to North-West areas.

A sudden burst of heavy showers in the capital provided some respite from the humid weather conditions of yesterday, bringing down the temperature to 33.6 Degrees Celsius.

The capital city of West Bengal experienced light to heavy rains bringing the temperature down appreciably today.

Rainfall also remained active in Himachal Pradesh even as rains eluded the twin state of Punjab and Haryana during the past 24 hours.

The southwest monsoon has been vigorous over coastal Andhra Pradesh and active over Orissa. It has been subdued over Arunachal Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and Tamil Nadu.

Heavy to very heavy rains have occurred at most places in Chattisgarh and at many places in coastal Andhra Pradesh and Kerala.

Rain or thundershowers have occurred at most places in Orissa, Jharkhand, Jammu and kKshmir, Gujarat state, Konkan and Goa, coastal Karnataka and at many places in west Bengal and Sikkim, east Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Himachal pradesh, east Madhya Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra, and a few places in Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, west Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Marathwada, Telangana and Andaman and Nicobar and at isolated places in Bihar, west Uttar Pradesh, west Rajasthan, east Rajasthan, Rayalaseema, interior Karnataka and Lakshadweep.
