GAIL to lay gas pipeline to Haldia

New Delhi, Aug 3 (UNI) GAIL plans to lay natural gas pipeline from Jagdishpur in Uttar Pradesh to Haldia in West Bengal that would be routed through Bihar.

The detailed feasibility report of the 1450 km-pipeline has been prepared. The project implementation would be subject to firming up of the gas supply source, Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dinshaw Patel informed the Lok Sabha in a written reply today.

Mr Patel said GAIL and Coal India Ltd (CIL) are in discussion for jointly participating in above ground coal gasification project.

In terms of the feasibility report prepared by GAIL, the estimated cost of the proposed complex is about Rs 2400 crore.

The plant would have a capacity to handle about 5000 tonnes of coal per day and would produce about 7.7 million standard cubic metre per day (MMSCMD) of Synthesis Gas. The completion time of the project would be 36 months from the date of approval of the GAIL's board.
