Freedom fighter Amar Nath Indori is dead
Patiala, Aug 3 (UNI) Veteran freedom fighter Amar Nath Indori, a cell mate of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, died at Government Rajindra Hospital, Patiala, today after a brief illness. He was 94.
A patient of tuberculosis, Mr Indori was admitted to the hospital after he lost his speech.
His family said that he had not taken any help from the Government, including freedom pension, and also not received 'Tamar Patar, which usually has been given to every freedom fighter.
Mr Indori was the cell mate of Shaheed Bhagat Singh in Lahore Jail.
His body will be cremated tomorrow at Rajpura Road cremation ground.
Expressing grief and sorrow over the demise of the freedom fighter, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, in a condolence message, said he was a symbol of honesty, simplicity and dedication.
He said he remained committed to the cause of downtrodden and under privileged sections of the society throughout his life.
The Chief Minister expressed his heartfelt sympathies with members of the bereaved family and prayed the Almighty to give them strength to bear this irreparable loss.
