Flood water receding in West Midnapore district

Midnapore, Aug 3 (UNI) State Minister for Disaster Management Murtaza Hossain and Water Resourses Minister Nandagopal Bhattacharya today made an on the spot study of the flood situation at Dantan today as water in the Subarnarekha started receding, District Magistrate Dusmant Nariyala said.

The District Magistrate was instructed to submit a consolidated report on the flood situation in Dantan, Gopiballavpur, Nayagram, Sankrail and Keshiari in which more than 65,000 people in 186 villages were affected.

In all 59 camps had been organised, mainly in Primary and Secondary schools in the area, the District Magistrate said.

Crops were lost in about 5000 hectare in these areas. 2000 MT of rice 500 tarpaulins and Rs two lakh in cash had been distributed among the flood victims.
