Fleet of 25 buses dispatched to Afghanistan
Wagah, Aug 3 (UNI) A fleet of 25 buses fabricated by Tata Motors today crossed over into Pakistan through this road check post, enroute to Kabul.
The buses were handed over to a senior Afghanistan transport offical, Mr Abdul Hafiz by officals of Tata Motors here. A team of 35 drivers and assistance from Kabul accompanied Mr Hafiz to take the Indian made vehicles to the nation devastated by internal conflicts.
The Pakistan government had granted transit facilities to Afghanistan last month, to enable the buses to pass through its territory. A fleet of 30 buses were dispatched to Kabul last month by Tata Motors from here.
So far around 300 buses have been sent to Afghanistan which are currently plying on routes to Kabul and to other major cities and towns of the country. The buses are part of the humanitarian aid promised by India to Kabul and in all around 2,500 buses/trucks are to be sent to Afghanistan.
