Ex-gratia to cover more people
Guwahati, Aug 3 (UNI) The Asom government today decided to provide ex-gratia to people working for anti-insurgency operations.
Often vehicle drivers and handymen, who were not state government employees, get caught in crossfire and lose their lives without getting any financial benefits from the state governments.
A government notification said these people would also be entitled for the benefit.
According to the notification, the state government has modified the ex-gratia grant rates to the families of the state government employees, home guards, army and Central Para-Military Forces, (CPMF) engaged in counter-insurgency operations in the state, if killed on duty.
Ex-gratia grant would also be paid to the families of the driver, handymen and other vehicle employees, people on emergency duty, if killed due to attack of extremist or anti-social elements.
Similarly families of state government employees, killed due to hazardous work, would also be given ex-gratia.
For deaths due to extremist attacks or during counter insurgency operations the families belonging to state police, home guard, state government employees, army and CPMF, state fire service, driver, handymen would be entitled an Ex-Gratia grant Rs five lakhs.
The state government has also modified the Ex-Gratia grant in case of injury to the employees from Rs 10,000 to Rs 2.00 lakhs.
The modification has come into force with immediate effect, an office memorandum issued to this effect said.
