Efforts on to resolve the deadlock in J
Srinagar, Aug 3 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly speaker Tara Chand today said efforts are on to resolve the deadlock which has arisen after a National Conference (NC) member Sharief Uddin Shariq was suspended from the house for the rest of the session.
He said the member was repeatedly directed by the chair to resume his seat and allow normal functioning of the house.
Mr Chand said after Mr Shariq disobeyed the chair, the treasury benches moved a motion to suspend him from the house for two days which was later adopted.
When asked about the allegations by NC leader that Mr Shariq was not allowed even to enter the main complex compound forcing him to sit just outside the main gate, the speaker said there is no restriction on him.
''There is absolutely no order from me or my secretariat that Mr Shariq should not be allowed to enter the complex,'' he said adding as per rules he cannot enter the house.
He said Mr Shariq can enter the lawns, lobby and secretariat and there is no restriction on him.
About the deadlock,he said efforts are on to make a breakthrough so that normal business is taken up on the last day of the session tomorrow.
''I was getting cooperation from the treasury and opposition members to run the house smoothly,'' he added.
