CPI(M) to fight tooth and nail to scrap GO 5: Raghavulu

Hyderabad, Aug 3 (UNI) The Communist Party of India (Marxist) State Secretary B V Raghavulu today said his party would demand, in the coming Assembly Session, to scraping of the GO 5 promulgated to initiate the process of privatisation of state public enterprises.

Talking to newspersons here, Mr Raghavulu said keeping the G O five in abeyance by the government was not correct.

He said as long as the GO was in abeyance the danger of its implementation would loom large on the the employees.

The CPI(M) leader said the GO 5 promulgated on July 18, was issued in line with the World Bank conditions regarding structural adjustment loans.

Mr Raghavulu alleged that just like fomer Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, the present Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy was also trying to cover up his government's ''fault'' of issuing such a GO, by projecting left parties as anti-reforms.

Referring to Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC), the CPI(M) leader said though government was claiming that it would not privatise APSRTC, it was conducting survey of proven un-economic routes in the corporation.

He also alleged that the allocation of Rs 400 crore to the APSRTC by the state government was not to discourage privitisation, ''but to privatise it.'' Mr Raghavulu said if Andhra Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation was merged with Andhra Pradesh Infrastructural Development Corporation, the employees of the former would lose their jobs and they would be asked to opt for voluntary retirement.
