Chairmen of corporations in J

Srinagar, Aug 3 (UNI) Chairmen of Corporations presently holding the status of a minister in Jammu and Kashmir were never under the ambit of office of profit specified by the Supreme Court, state Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Baig said.

He said the Bill introduced in the Assembly and Legislative Council in this regard, is declaratory in nature and the State Legislature has full power to make laws with retrospective effect.

The bill which was passed by the Legislative Assembly yesterday was also passed by Council today.

Legislative Council earlier in the day passed Prevention of Disqualification amendment Bill 2006, after its objects and reasons were explained by Mr Baig.
