AP will release Krishna water soon to TN: Reddy

Chennai, Aug 3 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh will soon release Krishna water to Tamil Nadu, its Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today said.

In an informal chat with newsmen after a CII Summit in the city, Dr Reddy said the water will be released under the Telugu Ganga Project soon.

Asked if his government would go ahead with the construction of a dam across River Palar in Kuppam in Andhra Pradesh, Dr Reddy said ''whatever we do will be legal. We will not do anything illegal.'' To a query if tenders have been floated for the dam construction, Dr Reddy said a firm 'no.' Queried if the government had issued a GO for constructing the dam, Dr Reddy said ''according to my knowledge, there is nothing like it.'' The remark assumes significance in the context of a Ministerial delegation visit from Tamil Nadu to Andhra Pradesh on August five to discuss Krishna water release and Palar Dam issue.
