Waqf 'mutawallis' to be appointed after govt approval
Lucknow, Aug 2 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Sunni and Shia Central Waqf Boards have been directed to appoint 'mutawallis' (caretakers) only after seeking prior approval from the state government.
Uttar Pradesh Muslim Waqf Minister Shakir Ali has further directed officials that six per cent contribution of the Waqf properties be given to the Waqf Board, one per cent to Centre and remaining 93 per cent be spent in accordance with waqf deed and with prior government permission.
Mr Ali said notice will be issued to all government department offices constructed on Waqf land. They will either be asked to pay rent on market rate or evacuate the property, he added.
He said the responsibility of the respective DMs should also be fixed for removing unauthorised possession from the Waqf properties.
