SpiceJet posts net loss of Rs 41.42 crore in FY 06
New Delhi, Aug 2 (UNI) No-frills airline SpiceJet today reported a net loss of Rs 41.42 crore for the year ended May 31 despite recording an average load factor of 86 per cent.
This compared with net losses of Rs 28.7 crore in the previous year, said its chairman Siddhanta Sharma. The fuel bill has now swelled to Rs 160 crore.
The low-cost carrier has a market share of 7.8 per cent with a fleet of six Boeing B737-800 aircraft.
During June 05 to May 06, its operating profit totalled Rs 71.52 crore on a turnover of Rs 453.15 crore. The airline carried 1.6 million passengers during the period of which 40 per cent were first-time travellers.
''Since November 05, we have seen a month-on-month dip in our operating costs,'' Mr Sharma told reporters after the board meeting which approved audited financial results.
