Srinagar, Aug 2 (UNI) A bill to hike the salaries and allowances of members, presiding officers of state Legislature and ministers and deputy minister was introduced in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly today.

The bill to enhance the salaries was introduced by the Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Baig in the Assembly. The hike would cost the State exchequer Rs 3 crore more per annum.

Under clauses 2 to 7 of the bill, salaries and other perks of the members, presiding officers, ministers and deputy ministers are proposed to be enhanced.

The expenditure by the said enhancement is to the tune of Rs 3 crore per annum approximately, the bill said.

The bill seeks amendment of section 3, Act XXVIII of 1962. In clause (a) of sub-section (1) of section 3 of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative council chairmans (Emoluments) Act, 1962 for the words ''seven thousand rupees'', the words ''twenty thousand rupees'' shall be substituted.

Amendment of Section 3, Act IV of 1956-In clause (a) of sub-section (1) of section 3 of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly (speaker's emoluments) Act, 1956 for the words ''seven thousand rupees, the words ''twenty thousand rupees'' shall be substituted.

Amendment of section 3, Act VI of 1956.-In clause (a) of sub-section (1) of section 3 of the Jammu and Kashmir Ministers and Ministers of State Salaries Act, 1956, for the words ''nine thousand rupees, seven thousand rupees and six thousand rupees'', the words ''twenty five thousand rupees, twenty thousand rupees and twenty thousand rupees'' shall be substituted.

Amendment of section 3, Act XXII of 1956, for the words ''six thousand rupees'', the words ''twenty thousand rupees'' shall be substituted.

Amendment of Section 3, Act VI of 1957- In clause (a) of sub-section (1) of section 3 of the Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Minister's Salaries and Allowances Act, 1957 for the words ''five thousand rupees'', the words ''twenty thousand rupees'' shall be substituted.
