RS adjourned over demand for CBI probe on FM
New Delhi, Aug 2: Demand for a CBI inquiry against Finance Minister P Chidambaram for his alleged association with a company Vedant Resources which was allegedly involved in a number of financial irregularities today led to the adjournment of the Rajya Sabha during the Zero Hour.
The demand was raised by Samajwadi Party, TDP and AIDMK members.
Waving copies of a book Vedanta's Billions written by Rohit Poddar on the functioning of Vedant Resources and Sterlite companies owned by Mr Anil Agarwal, the Members demanded a discussion on the matter.
They were asking for the resignation of Mr Chidambaram on moral grounds till the inquiry was completed.
The Chair asked them to have discussion on the issue tomorrow after a proper notice. But they were in no mood to listen and trooped into the well of the House shouting slogans.
The Chair ultimately adjourned the House till 1400 hrs.
