Chennai, Aug 2 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today promised all efforts to bring back the body of a Tamilian, who died at Riyadh in Saudi Arabia about one-and-a-half months back.

Responding to T Velmurugan (PMK), who narrated the plight of the victim Ezhilarasan's family in getting the body even after so many days of his death, Mr Karunanidhi expressed grief over the death and the delay, and said his government would take all efforts to bring the body to India.

''People from Tamil Nadu going abroad for jobs cannot be stopped unless their grievances are redressed'', he said and promised to take necessary steps in this regard.

Earlier, raising the issue soon after the day's proceedings began, Mr Velmurugan, who represents Panrutti assembly constituency from where the victim hails, said due to the complex formalities there was inordinate delay in bringing the body of Ezhilarasan to India.

The family of Ezhilarasan, who was working as an Electric Engineer in Riyadh, was in dire straits and they could not even see his body even one and a half months after his death.

The issue was raised with the Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia and letters were written to the Central government on the issue, he said and urged the Chief Minister to draw the Centre's attention to immediately bring back the body.
