Jung misfires, Rana disappoints at World Championships

Zagreb, Croatia, Aug 2 (UNI) Melbourne Commonwealth hero Samresh Jung disappointed once again while veteran Jaspal Rana was bad among the worsts as Indian shooters misfired without exception in the Centre Fire Pistol at the World Shooting Championships here today.

'Goldfinger' Jung, who has been horribly out of touch eversince his Commonwealth exploits, finished a poor 33rd with a score of 575 (290+285).

Jaspal Rana and Vijay Kumar ended up 26th and 27th with an identical score of 577 with Rana firing 288 in precision and 289 in rapid while Kumar shooting 287 and 290 in the two categories.

Yadong Liu of China won the gold medal with a score of 587 (294+293) and Mikhail Nestruev of Russia pipped Michael Hofmann of Switzerland by one point in the shoot-out after the two were tied at 585.
