Agartala, Aug 2 (UNI) Tripura Governor Dinesh Nandan Sahaya today stressed the need of a shared vision with stake holders and target groups in execution of developmental programmes taken up by the union government.

Inaugurating the Public Information Campaign (PIC) on the seven flagship programmes of the Centre here, Mr Sahaya said developmental programmes are like a pyramid where the community has to be kept at the centre, which implies a top down approach and a vertical decentralisation, which cannot be imported but has to be built.

''The builders will have to be rural development carriers at the grassroot level with participation of the people at large,'' added Mr Sahaya.

Appreciating the UPA government's Eight Falgship programmes under the Bharat Nirman programme namely, Sarva Siksha Abhiyan, Mid-day Meal Scheme, Rajiv Gandhi Dringking Water Mission, Total Sanitation Campaign, National Rural Health Mission, Integrated Child Development Services, National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme and Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission, the governor said the PIC will help the people understand more about the various projects undertaken by the government of India. ''The PIC also aims at highlighting the Right to Information (RTI) Act which is designed to empower people, combat corruption, improve governance and bring about accountability and transperancy in the admistration,'' he said.

Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism (ICAT) Minister Anil Sarkar said the PIC was a noble step undertaken by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to popularise eight Flagship Programmes under the Bharat Nirman Programme. He further added that the state government will provide aerated drinking water and proper sanitation to all in Tripura.
