Fragment of meteorite found in coke factory in Bachau
Bhuj, Aug 2 (UNI) A big fragment of the meteorites that fell on Monday night in Kutch was recovered from a coke factory in Lunawa village in Bachau taluka and handed over to the district authorities.
It was probably the biggest piece weighing about one kg found so far in Kutch, officials said.
The fragment was black in colour and shining, said the factory owner.
The mamlatdar will later send it for tests to the Geological Survey of India.
There was a meteorite shower on Monday night and fragments had fallen in parts of Kutch and Saurashtra region. It had led to panic among the villagers as they recalled the trauma that the 2001 devastating quake had caused.
