Fed of teachers observe fast to press demands

Chennai, Aug 2: Members of the Federation of Tamil Nadu state all unemployed under graduate and post graduate teachers association today observed a fast at Chepauk in the city to press their demands.

They were demanding among other things, cancellation of recruitment of qualified teachers through test conducted by the Teachers Recruitment Board.

Meanwhile, Federation president K Ratnakumar in a press release said they also urged the DMK government to fulfill its election promise that the recuritment of teachers would be done based only on seniority in the employment exchanges.

The Federation wanted that registration of those, who got jobs should be removed from the live register of the employment exchanges and direct recruitment of temporary under graduate B.Ed teachers, he added.

He said if the demands were not met before the demand on education to be tabled in the ongoing state Assembly session, they would intensify their struggle across the state.
