CLP meeting to decide Rymbai and Lapang fate
Shillong, Aug 2 (UNI) To iron out differences in the Congress Legislature Party, Meghalaya Chief Minister J Dringwell Rymbai today said he would soon convene meeting.
''We will meet as one family to sort out the problem,'' Mr Rymbai told UNI in the wake of his predecessor D D Lapang attempting to dislodge him.
Mr Lapang, who has been campaigning in New Delhi for the past one week, has been directed by AICC president Sonia Gandhi and party in-charge of Meghalaya Oscar Fernandez to return to the state capital and put everything in order.
At-least 15 Congress legislators have revolted openly against the Rymbai led government and favoured re-instating former Chief Minister as their CLP leader.
Today, a much-mellowed Lapang-loyalist camp called for a truce.
Mr Dkhar also claimed Mr Fernandez had assured the dissident MLAs that the party would look into their demands.
However, the regional parties in alliance with the Congress here have expressed solidarity with the Rymbai-led government. They condoned the frequent change of leadership within the party, saying it was hampering the developmental activities in Meghalaya.
