Chikangunia affected patinents reduced to 974
Mumbai, Aug 2 (UNI) Maharashtra health secretary Vijay Satbir Singh today said that the number of patients affected by suspected 'Chikangunia' fever has now reduced to 974 from 3000.
Dr Singh said the disease has symptoms of high fever, body pain and vomitting which could be cured by Brufen or paracitomol or any other pain killer and does not need saline or injection.
He said the authorities sent the blood samples of 2647 patients to National virology institute out of which 246 proved to be positive for Chikangunia while 83 cases were of dengue.
He also said dengue does not have any vaccine but complications did arise in some cases as the private doctors administered wrong doses.
He said the the government is using various sprays to kill mosquitoes.
He also said the Chief Minister has asked the guardian ministers to organise meetings in the respective districts to make the people aware of the disease and its measures.
