Central assistance to states to strengthen emergency services
New Delhi, Aug 2 (UNI) The Home Ministry has drawn up a scheme for 'Strengthening of Fire and Emergency Services' in the States by providing them financial assistance for it, the government informed the Rajya Sabha today.
Minister of State for Home S. Regupathy said in a written reply that the finance would be given for meeting the deficiencies of fire stations/units at the State capital, metropolitan cities and district/sub divisional headquarters as per minimum requirements and strengthening of State-level fire training institutes, where existing, and setting up of such institutes in other States.
It would also give assistance for procurement of upgraded versions of fire tenders, rescue vehicles and other fire related equipment and training aids and provision of additional manpower.
The scheme is to be implemented over a period of five years.
