Mumbai, Aug 2 (UNI) The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) today sanctioned Rs five lakh each to the kin of its employees who died in the July 11 serial train bomb blasts here.

The standing committee of the corporation today sanctioned the under-contingent fund provision, as there was no such provision made in the budget for 2006-07.

Five BMC employees - executive engineer Kantilal Tulsidas Gohil, sub-engineers Yatin M Mehta and Arun K Patole, senior licence inspector Nandkumar B Vaidya and hallal-cum-scavanger Govind Khima Solanki - had lost their lives in the blasts.

Apart from the financial assistant to the kin of the deceased, the corporation has also decided to accommodate one of their family members in municipal services, on compassionate ground.
