Mumbai, Aug 2 (UNI) The Bombay High Court today allowed with drawal of a bail plea by Zameeruddin Ansari alias Jumbo Kalia, accused in Gutkha barons-underworld nexus case.

The bail plea was earlier moved before Justice R S Mohite, who allowed the withdrawal after counsel for Kalia, Shyam Keswani, requested the court that he will again apply for the same after change in circumstances of the case, therefore he be allowed the same.

Kalia, who is booked under MCOCA, had allegedly actively participated in setting up a gutkha factory at Karachi, owned by underworld Don Dawood Ibrahim's brother Anees with the help of Gutkha barons Jagdish Joshi and Rasiklal Manikchand.

In his bail plea, Kalia told the court that the confessional statement recorded by the CBI, was against his wish and were recorded wrongly. He therefore requested the court to consider his bail plea on technical grounds.

While opposing the bail plea, CBI Counsel Raja Thakare argue that prima facie material is available against the accused and the confessional statement recorded by the deputy Commissioner of Police is admissible under the law and same was recorded as the accused expressed his desire to do so.
