6,768 hectare agricultural land to be alloted to landless

Lucknow, Aug 2 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government will allot 6,768 hectare agricultural land of Gram Samaj to landless poor for agriculture purpose during the current fiscal.

State Revenue Minister Ambika Chaudhary today said, the officials had been directed to make efforts for socio-economic upliftment of landless poor by allotment of agricultural land.

He said the department must also ensure possession of eligible people on such land and warned that laxity in this regard would not be tolerated.

Mr Chaudhary said, last year 11,798 hectare agriculture land was allotted to the elgible landless against the fixed target of 8,000 hectare.

''The state government is making all efforts to repeat the performance this year also,'' he added.
