Women desks at select police stations in MP
Bhopal, Aug 1 (UNI) Lady officers will be deputed to select police stations at 38 district headquarters of Madhya Pradesh and will head 'women desk' there and such more desks will also be set up in the remaining ten districts.
The desks will operate round-the-clock.
Police Headquarters issued the order yesterday following an announcement by state Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan at a women's 'panchayat' on Sunday.
The 38 districts are Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Ujjain, Gwalior, Sagar, Satna, Rewa, Dhar, Panna, Mandsaur, Tikamgarh, Shajapur, Hoshangabad, Dewas, Jabua, Shahdol, Guna, Betul, Seoni, Sidhi, Mandla, Balaghat, Ratlam, Sehore, Rajgarh, Chhatarpur, Narsinghpur, Vidisha, Raisen, Khandwa, Bhind, Damoh, Shivpuri, Morena, Neemuch, Barwani and Chhindwara.
The Chief Minister has also directed the setting up of a helpline.
''The helpline scheme will be speedily implemented in association with voluntary organisations,'' said DGP Swaraj Puri.
