Survey of flood-damaged areas to be video recorded: Rane
Kolhapur, Aug 1 (UNI) Maharashtra Revenue Minister Narayan Rane today said panchanama surveys of damaged properties due to recent floods would be undertaken through video recording within 48 hours of rain water subsiding, to enable affected people to receive early compensation.
Addressing a press meet here tonight, Mr Rane said the survey of damages would be done through video recording to avoid any complaints about damages and accordingly he directed the government machinery.
Although, some parts of western Maharashtra has received highest rainfall, the flood situation is not as high as it was last year, he said.
Mr Rane visited flood-affected regions like Satara, Sangli and Kolhapur districts where flood situation has become serious due to heavy rains and surplus water discharge from dams.
In Sangli district about 80,000 people from 85 villages have been shifted so far, he said and added that four people lost lives in the district in rain-related incidents.
Last year, the state government had disbursed about Rs 1,251 crore to the flood affected people, he said and said the state government is actively considering to find out a permanant solution to tackle such a situation.
