State to have more industrial estates: Veerasamy
Chennai, Aug 1 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu government will set up new Industrial Estates in the State, Electricity and Rural Industries Minister Arcot N Veerasamy told the State Assembly today.
Moving the demand for grants for his department, he said the estates, comprising Women Industrial parks and Techno parks, would be set up through the Tamil Nadu Small Industries Development Corporation (SIDCO).
He said women Industrial parks would be established at Vazhavanthankottai in Tiruchi and at Madurai, while techno parks would be set up at Theni, Vinnamangalam and Mayiladuthurai.
SIDCO would also set up additional industrial estates in places according to the needs, he added.
On strengthening the existing Industrial Estates, he said the Hosur Industrial Estate was upgraded at a cost of Rs 61 lakh. The Industrial Estates at Dindigul, Pudukkottai, Krishnagiri, Karur, Tiruppur, Tiruchengodu and Namakkal would be upgraded this year and SIDCO would draw a plan to chalk out the upgradation works.
''Proposals for taking up upgradation works under the Integrated Infrastructure Development scheme in respect of Kappalur Phase-II, Kurichi and Virudhunagar have been sent to the SIDBI'', he said and added that a Special Purpose Vehicle has been formed for upgradation of the Guindy Industrial Estate in Chennai at a cost of Rs 1,002.24 lakh.
