Re weakens by 3 paise, closes at Rs 46.59/USD

Mumbai, Aug 1: Rupee today weakened by three paise to close at Rs 46.59 per US dollar compared to the previous close of Rs 46.56, a trader in the money market informed.

Rupee, earlier, opened at Rs 46.59/61 per US dollar and in the mid morning session, traded at 46.66/67 per US dollar.

RBI today fixed the reference rate at Rs 46.65/USD compared to the previous rate of 46.51 per USD.

The six month forward premia was flat at 1.08 per cent and the one year forward premia was up at 1.17 per cent.

However, Rupee performed well against other currencies. Against the Euro, it was at Rs 59.37; against Pound Sterling it was 86.75 and against Yen it was Rs 40.55.
