Rs 948 cr distributed to the Vidarbha farmers

Mumbai, Aug 1 (UNI) An amount of Rs 948.49 crore loan has been distributed to the farmers of six districts of Vidarbha through various banks under the Prime Minister's and State Government's special package.

An official release said that in Yavatmal district Rs 270.50 crore have been districted to the farmers, in Akola 118.13 crore, Washim 115.37 crore, Buldhana 179.41, Wardha 104.90 and Amravati 160.18 crore.

Apart from this' an amount of Rs 50 lakh was sent to distribute among the families of the farmers who had committed suicide due to debt. So far in Amravati district Rs 13 lakh has been distributed to 152 farmmers, Rs 6.25 lakh to eight farmers in Yavatmal, Rs 13 lakh to 130 farmers in Buldana, Rs 9.7 lakh to 95 farmers in Washim, Rs 5.45 lakh to 106 farmers in Wardha and Rs 9.3 lakh to 93 farmers in Akola.

An official release further said that Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh is personally monitoring the distribution. It may be mentioned that over 1,000 debt ridden farmers had committred suicides in this area.
